Oud comes from a tropic agar tree that can be found growing naturally in the Middle East, although it is thought to have originated from Assam, India. When this tree becomes infected by a mould called Phialophora Parasitica the tree produces a dark, dense and fragrant resin to protect itself.
This raw material is then harvested and collected so that the oil can be abstracted.
